Structuring a Basic Page
The following chapter outlines the process of structuring a basic page in WordPress.
A well-structured page makes it easier for visitors to find the information they need. By using different blocks, you can create a clear layout with text, images, buttons, and other elements.
Planning Your Page Layout
Before adding content, it helps to think about the goal of your page.
For example, a homepage usually has:
A headline that grabs attention;
A short introduction to the site or business;
A call-to-action button (e.g., "Get Started" or "Contact Us").
A Contact page might include:
A brief message about how to reach you;
A contact form where visitors can send messages;
A Google Maps block to show your location.
Planning your page structure helps you decide which blocks to use and how to arrange them.
To create a well-structured page, you'll use different types of blocks:
- Heading block: adds section titles to organize content;
- Paragraph block: adds body text for descriptions or details;
- Image block: displays photos or graphics;
- Button block: creates clickable buttons for actions;
- Columns block: splits content into side-by-side sections.
Each block can be customized with colors, fonts, and spacing to make your page visually appealing.
After adding blocks, you can customize them to improve readability and design:
- Rearrange blocks by dragging them to different positions;
- Use bold headings to make sections stand out;
- Add spacing and dividers to create a clean layout;
- Align images and text to improve the visual balance of the page.
Before publishing, it's a good idea to preview your page to make sure everything looks right.
To do this:
- Click the Preview button at the top of the Block Editor;
- Choose Preview in a new tab to see how your page appears to visitors.
If something needs adjusting, you can go back and make changes before publishing.
