Lære Using Groups in Figma: Structuring and Nesting Objects Efficiently | Creating and Organizing Objects in Figma
UI/UX Design with Figma

bookUsing Groups in Figma: Structuring and Nesting Objects Efficiently

  • Groups are treated as single entities, making it easier to move or organize multiple objects together;
  • The group is labeled as "Group" in the design panel, and you can rename it for clarity;
  • Groups follow the same stacking order as individual layers;
  • You can rearrange groups or objects within a group by dragging them in the layers panel;
  • Groups can be nested (a group within another group) simply by drag a group into another group to nest it;
  • Nested groups maintain stacking order, where objects in higher layers appear on top;
  • Frames can be nested similarly to groups (a frame within another frame).

Make sure to:

  • Use groups to keep designs organized and easy to manage;

  • Lock individual groups or objects if you don't want them accidentally moved or edited;

  • Rename groups to help in quickly identifying them in complex designs;

  • To group, select multiple objects, right click and select "Group Selection", or alternatively, press Ctrl/Command + G;

  • To ungroup, right-click and select "Ungroup" or press Ctrl/Command + Backspace (Figma default). Ctrl/Command + Shift + G (Adobe default) also works.
