A Development Team in Agile is a group of professionals responsible for delivering a potentially releasable increment of the product at the end of each sprint.
While all roles in Agile are crucial, the Development Team is perhaps the most important in delivering a product.
The team is cross-functional, meaning it includes all the skills necessary to create the product increment. Development Team members collaborate closely, share responsibilities, and are collectively accountable for the success of each sprint.
Key Responsibilities of the Development Team
The Development Team organizes and carries out tasks to achieve the sprint goal, ensuring all planned work aligns with the overall objectives.
At the end of each sprint, the team must deliver a usable and high-quality product increment that meets the Definition of Done.
Team members work closely with the Product Owner to clarify requirements, understand acceptance criteria, and ensure the right product is being built.
The team actively engages in Agile events such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to foster transparency and ongoing improvement.
The Development Team manages its own work, distributes tasks collaboratively, and is collectively accountable for the outcomes and success of each sprint.
