Definition

Color mode refers to the system used to create and represent colors in various media. The most commonly used are RGB, CMYK, and Pantone (PMS).

RGB is used for screens and creates bright, vibrant colors using light. While CMYK is used for print and mixes ink to subtract light, resulting in less vibrant colors. Designers must work in the right color mode depending on the final output to achieve accurate color representation.

When exact color matching is needed, Pantone (PMS) colors are used. Remember to always preview your design as your audience will experience it: on screen or in print.
