Note
Definition

Keylight is an effect that helps you remove a green or blue screen from the background of your video clip.

This gives you the ability to change the background of a subject shot on a green screen or use any footage from the internet that has a similar setup.

Chroma key is often used in visual effects. It's typically green or blue because these colors are completely opposite from human skin tones on the color spectrum. If you want to shoot green screen videos yourself, make sure you have proper lighting.
Your subject should be as far from the green screen as possible, and the background should not contain any shadows from the subject.

In post-production, keying is a very precise process, but we will cover just the basics today.

In this chapter, you've learned:

  • How to remove backgrounds using the Keylight effect;
  • Key Keylight parameters to adjust for better results;
  • How to refine keying with masks and duplicate layers.
