Creating and Editing Pages
Let's go through the process of creating and editing three essential pages for your Shopify store: the Home, About, and Contact pages. Each of these pages plays a significant role in communicating your brand's story and providing key information to customers.
Additionally, we'll cover how to create a custom theme template for the 'Our Story' (About) page and use the built-in contact template for your 'Contact Us' page.
Steps
- Accessing the Pages Section: from your Shopify admin dashboard, go to Online Store > Pages. This is where you'll create and manage static pages;
- Creating the About Page with the Theme Customizer:
- Click Add Page and give it a title like 'Our Story.' You can add text, images, or videos that introduce your brand;
- To use a custom template for this page, go to Online Store > Themes > Edit Code. In the Templates folder, click Add a new template, and select page as the template type. Name it
page.our-story.liquid
and customize the layout using Liquid code. After saving, select this template for the 'Our Story' page under Template > Custom Template in the page editor.
- Using the Contact Template: for the 'Contact Us' page, Shopify offers a pre-built contact form template. Simply create the page titled 'Contact Us' and select the contact template from the template dropdown;
- Customizing the Home Page: head to Themes > Customize to start editing your Home page. Add sections like a hero banner, featured products, or customer testimonials to highlight what's important on your landing page;
- Optimizing Pages for SEO: at the bottom of each page, fill out the SEO section to help your pages rank higher in search engines.
Once these essential pages are live, you have a solid foundation for your Shopify store's structure!
