  1. Right-click on the "State" field and select Create > Set... .

  2. Name the set (e.g., "CA and NY" ) and select the states California and New York .

  3. Drag the "Sub-Category" field to the Columns Shelf and "Sales" to the Rows Shelf .

  4. Move the newly created set (e.g., "CA and NY" ) to the Color area in the Marks section to differentiate between the selected states and other states.
