Welcome to our Excel video course for data analytics!

As you may already know, Excel is frequently utilized in data analysis to simplify processes without the need for programming languages like Python or R, allowing you to perform complex tasks with just a few clicks.

If you are already familiar with data analysis and wish to add Excel to your toolkit, this course is tailor-made for you.

Let's get started!

Importing data is a fundamental skill for anyone using Excel, especially in fields like data analysis, finance, or engineering.

Being able to bring in data from sources like CSV files, databases, and other formats is essential because:

  • Automating data import speeds up analysis by removing the need for manual entry;
  • Direct imports cut down on errors common with manual data entry;
  • Excel can handle large datasets, making it perfect for complex analyses;
  • Many workflows require data from various sources.

Task

Now, give it a try yourself. Below are the files we'll be using throughout this section.

Each file corresponds to a specific table:

  • Sales: this file provides details about each individual sale.

  • Products: this file contains a listing of all the products currently being sold by the store we are analyzing.

  • Branches: this file includes information about all the store's branches in various cities.

Please download each file, open your Excel and try importing them into Excel as demonstrated in the video.

These files are all in CSV format, which is commonly used in data analysis to transfer tabular data between different software.
