Prototyping Basics in Figma: Creating Interactive User Flows
Swipe to show menu
Interactive prototypes in Figma help demonstrate how a design behaves, enabling clients and stakeholders to visualize the final product's user experience. To create a basic prototype:
- Go to the Prototype tab and select the first frame;
- Click the plus icon near "Flow Starting Point" to designate the starting frame. You can drag it to a different frame if needed;
- Select an object, or a frame, and drag the blue circle node to another frame to establish a connection;
- Connections can be adjusted or removed by dragging the arrow to an empty area or using the minus icon in the Prototype tab;
- Click the Play/Present icon to open the prototype;
- Clicking unlinked areas displays hotspots. A hotspot is where the Interaction takes place. It can be any object within the original frame, such as a link, button, image or icon, etc.
