What is Photoshop?

Photoshop is a creative hub that allows creative minds to go on whatever journey they want.
You can start with a blank canvas and decide what you want to put on that canvas. Similar to a painter while choosing their canvas's type, size, and all that.

Photoshop allows you to build different things via layers on top of each other. It could be an image, a text, a filter, and more. It is a powerful graphics editing software developed by Adobe.

You can use Photoshop to turn this:

And you can also do this:

Throughout the course, you'll learn how to do these examples and more!

The software features include:

  • Layers: Allows for non-destructive editing and easy manipulation of individual elements within an image. This is the strongest feature of all Adobe programs;
  • Selection Tools: Various tools for selecting parts of an image, including the Marquee, Lasso, and Magic Wand;
  • Brushes and Drawing Tools: Extensive range of customizable brushes and tools for painting and drawing;
  • Adjustment Layers: Non-destructive adjustments for color, brightness, contrast, and more;
  • Filters and Effects: Wide variety of filters and effects to enhance or alter images creatively;
  • Text Tools: Comprehensive text editing capabilities, including various fonts, styles, and effects; 3D Capabilities: Basic 3D modeling and rendering features;
  • Automation: Batch processing and scripting capabilities for repetitive tasks;
  • Integration: Seamless integration with other Adobe Creative Cloud applications like Illustrator, InDesign, and Lightroom.

Photoshop is a program that allows you to put all your different creative ideas into one canvas, into one place in order to build a final image.

You can also save images in photoshop and go back in and edit them later, export them to upload on the internet or even to print them out. It is used by photographers, graphic designers, digital artists, web designers, and professionals in various fields.

Photoshop is part of a subscription license, or membership, to Adobe. You can either choose to subscribe to a bundle i.e. Photography which consists of Photoshop & Lightroom. You can also choose individual programs, or you can get access to all the apps!
