What Can Copilot Analyze?

Copilot can work with a wide range of inputs, including:

  • Documents (Word, PDF, PowerPoint);
  • Images (including handwritten notes);
  • Emails (via connected accounts);
  • Files from cloud storage (OneDrive, Google Drive).

This allows you to go beyond simple prompts and work directly with your own content.

Working With Documents (Word, PDF, PowerPoint)

You can upload files by clicking the "+" icon and selecting your document.

Once attached, you can:

  • summarize content;
  • ask specific questions;
  • extract key information;
  • transform content into new formats.

Examples:

Summarise this in 5 bullet points

Extract all tasks and organise them into a checklist

Rewrite this as a pitch deck outline

Copilot can also restructure outputs, such as turning a plan into a timeline or checklist.

Image Analysis

Copilot can understand and process images, including handwritten notes.

Common uses:

  • convert images into text;
  • rewrite notes into structured content;
  • transform informal notes into professional communication.

Examples:

Convert this image into text

Rewrite this as a professional status update

This is especially useful for turning rough notes into polished outputs.

Email Integration

You can connect Copilot to your email (e.g. Outlook or Gmail) using Connectors.

Once connected, you can:

  • summarize emails;
  • extract key details (e.g. order issues, requests);
  • draft replies automatically.

Examples:

Summarise the latest customer email about an order issue

Draft a professional reply to that email

Copilot can locate relevant emails and generate responses based on their content.

Cloud Storage And Calendar Integration

By connecting services like OneDrive or Google Drive, you can:

  • reference files without manually uploading them;
  • ask questions about existing documents;
  • generate content based on stored files.

Example:

Based on my CV in OneDrive, write a cover letter for this role

Copilot will use your file as a source and reference it in the response.

Important Limitation (Business Version)

In the business (enterprise) version:

  • you can still upload files manually;
  • however, connectors (email, OneDrive, etc.) may be restricted due to data protection policies.

Key Insight

Copilot becomes significantly more powerful when you combine prompts with your own files and data.

Instead of just asking questions, you can:

  • analyse real documents;
  • automate workflows;
  • generate outputs based on your own content.
