Real datasets often combine multiple pieces of information into one column. Before analysis, you need to separate this data into clear, structured fields.

In this chapter, you split names and coded values into usable columns using Copilot.

Split Full Name Into Columns

Names often come in different formats and inconsistent capitalization. This makes them hard to use in tools like CRMs or email systems.

Create two new columns: First Name and Last Name. Then use Copilot in Agent Mode to split the Full Name column, fix capitalization, and remove unnecessary characters.

Copilot detects different formats automatically and fills the new columns correctly.

Split Encoded Fields

Some columns contain combined data, such as codes with multiple meanings.

For example, a value like NW-42-JD may include region, booth, and representative. To make this usable, create separate columns for each part.

Ask Copilot to split the column using the correct separator and assign each part to its own column.

Verify And Clean Up

After splitting, review the results to make sure everything is correct.

Once verified, you can hide the original combined columns to keep the table clean and focused.
