Selecting Sources for Generation
NotebookLM can generate a variety of useful outputs directly from the sources in your notebook. Rather than simply answering questions in chat, it can create complete documents, presentations, and structured data based on the information you have selected.
Before generating content, you can choose which sources should be included by selecting or deselecting them within your notebook. This allows you to focus the generated material on a specific subset of your research rather than every source available.
Generating Slide Decks and Reports
NotebookLM can automatically create an entire slide deck summarising the selected sources, making it easy to turn research into presentation material. It can also generate reports in different formats, including predefined styles such as study guides or policy papers, or completely custom formats based on your own instructions.
Generating Data Tables
In addition, NotebookLM can organize information into structured data tables, making it easier to compare information and analyse key details across your sources.
Reviewing and Exporting Outputs
Once generated, these outputs can be previewed, refined, and exported for further editing in other applications. Multiple types of content can also be generated at the same time, allowing you to efficiently produce different resources from the same collection of source material.
By transforming research into presentations, reports, and structured tables with minimal effort, NotebookLM helps streamline the process of creating educational, professional, and analytical content.
1. Why might you deselect certain sources before generating content in NotebookLM?
2. You have collected research from several sources but want to produce both a presentation and a written summary of the same material. How can NotebookLM help?
3. Which of the following is not an example of content that NotebookLM can generate from your selected sources?
