Searching Files with Natural Language

Gemini in Google Drive helps you find, analyze, and connect information across your files using natural language. Rather than relying only on exact file names or keywords, you can describe what you remember about a document, and Gemini will search your Drive to identify files that match your description.

Gemini can be accessed either through the Gemini panel or directly from the Google Drive search bar. To provide the best results, you can allow Gemini to access your Drive files, other Google Workspace apps, and the web, depending on the task you want to perform.

Comparing and Combining Information Across Files

Beyond locating individual files, Gemini can compare information across multiple documents. Instead of opening several files and manually checking their contents, you can ask questions that require Gemini to analyze information from your Drive and identify the relevant answer. Gemini also provides references to the files it used, making it easy to verify its responses.

You can also select specific files for Gemini to use together. By combining information from multiple documents, spreadsheets, or other supported files, Gemini can generate new insights and produce answers that draw on information from all of the selected sources.
