Decrypt PDFDecrypt PDF

decrypt() is a PyPDF2 function that allows developers to remove password-based encryption from a PDF file. It's useful for automating the process of decrypting PDF files in Python, which can be necessary when working with encrypted files or when password protection is no longer needed. With decrypt(), developers can easily remove encryption from a PDF file in their Python scripts.

We have encrypted file encrypted-pdf.pdf from the previous chapter. Let's decrypt and save it into decrypted-pdf.pdf file.

The encrypted-pdf.pdf file:

Tarea

  1. Read in a PDF;
  2. Decrypt the new PDF;
  3. Add all pages to the writer using add_page();
  4. Save the new PDF to a file.

The decrypted-pdf.pdf is the copy of the example.pdf file:
