Neuron Industries (YC S26)

Software Engineer

Location: Torrance, CA

Salary: $140k-$210k

Skills: Concurrent Programming, Microservices, API Development

About the Job

Build the software ecosystem: the development environment our customers live in, the data path from controller to cloud, and the fleet infrastructure behind both.

America deserves abundance.

But we cannot manufacture our abundant future while the reactors, fabs, and production lines that make everything we use still run on architecture locked in the 90s.

Neuron Industries is the industrial technology company for the AI era. We are rebuilding the entire industrial automation tech stack, from hardware to runtime to the AI fabric, without sacrificing a minute of uptime. Controls projects that took weeks now take hours.

Come help us build the golden age of American manufacturing.

The role

You build the software

ecosystem

of the company: the development environment our customers live in, the data path from controller to cloud, and the infrastructure that keeps a growing fleet of industrial devices shipping, updating, and observable.

What you'll do

  • Build the development environment our customers live in: editor, simulation, deployment flows, and the AI\-assisted workflows that turn weeks of controls work into hours.

  • Own the infrastructure: CI/CD with hardware\-in\-the\-loop stages, the OTA update pipeline, release engineering, observability, fleet management for controllers in the field.

  • Ship the data path, from the free local data viewer to the paid cloud and on\-prem data lake: ingestion, storage, query, and visualization of high\-rate industrial time series.

  • Work truly full stack: a web server that runs on the controller itself, desktop tooling, cloud services. Pick boring, reliable technology at each layer.

  • Design APIs that survive contact with real customers. Versioned, documented, stable while the product moves fast.

  • Take features from vague ask to shipped and monitored, own them in production, and work AI\-first day to day: agents in your editor, in CI, in code review.

What you'll bring

  • Strong CS fundamentals: data structures, concurrency, networking, and what the machine actually does with your code. You can chase a symptom down the stack.

  • You've shipped and operated production software that real users depended on. You can tell us what broke and what you changed after.

  • Fluent in TypeScript/React (or close) and at least one systems language (Rust, Go, C\+\+, or serious Python). The stack runs from device to cloud and so will you.

  • You test and instrument by default. "Works on my machine" isn't done.

  • Product taste. You notice when a workflow has one screen too many, and you fix it without waiting for a ticket.

  • Small team, no PM layer: you talk to customers and own outcomes. And you develop with AI daily, knowing where it compounds you and where it starts writing junk.

Nice to have

  • Time\-series data systems, industrial protocols, or other high\-rate telemetry.

  • You've built developer tools, IDEs, language tooling, or simulation environments.

  • Enough embedded Linux to debug your code where it runs.

  • LLM\-powered features shipped to production.

Compensation

$140,000–$210,000 base, plus meaningful early equity. The range is wide on purpose: where you land depends on the depth of what you have shipped and operated in production.

Benefits

  • Significant stock option packages

  • 100% employer\-paid Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance (premium PPO and HMO options)

  • Paid vacation, sick leave, and company holidays

  • Free daily catered lunch and dinner

Neuron Industries is an equal opportunity employer: we hire on ability, hunger, and what you can build. And if this role excites you but your experience doesn't line up perfectly with every bullet above, apply anyway. The bullets describe the work, not the prerequisite for success.

Location: Torrance, CA — on\-site, five days a week.
